Andrei Popov
Born in 1962
1986: Graduated from Kishinev (Chisinau) Medical University
He worked as a sports doctor, an ambulance-team doctor, a CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation) expert, a pulmonologist, a rheumatologist, a general practitioner, and a cardiologist. He lectured at the therapy faculty and headed a laboratory for population research at the Research Institute for Medical Problems of the Extreme North at the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.
From 2003: Participated in research expeditions in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area, worked as a cardiologist, a researcher and also headed a number of expeditions.
2007: Defended his PhD thesis at the Moscow Research Institute of Occupational Medicine.
From 2012: Heads the medical research section at the environmental monitoring and biomedical technologies department of the Arctic Research Center in the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous Area.
He has published over 70 research papers on diseases of the cardio-respiratory system, professional risk factors, adaptation and polar syndromes.
